Can you make a chocolate cardamom cake in five minutes that tastes good? The answer is yes, an emphatic YES! With only six ingredients and a microwave, you can whip up this chocolate cardamom cake in five minutes, which is fantastic if you find yourself in a pinch, like I did a week ago when my dad came to dinner. My dad was raised on a farm, big meals and dessert, always dessert. So when we finished our meal and he was ready for something sweet, my mind was scrambling! I had a small amount of left-over ice cream but not enough to serve us all, and then the light bulb went on. ‘Would you like a slice of Chocolate Cardamom Cake? It will only take me five minutes to make.’ I’m sure he thought I was joking, but I showed him the batter and told him his cake would be served in a few minutes!
Ingredients for a Five Minute Cake
You only need 6 ingredients for whipping up this cake; ghee (or butter) almond flour, cocoa powder, cardamom, maple syrup and one egg. That’s it! This makes a small amount of cake, in fact, most make it in a mug or small ramekins. It makes enough to serve two or three a small slice, or enough for one if it’s one of those nights and you need to eat a whole mug full of chocolate cake all by yourself!
Chocolate Cardamom Cake in Five Minutes
Using a mug or ramekins, crack one egg and stir with a fork. Add almond flour, cocoa powder, cardamom, and maple syrup. Blend well, and finish with a small amount of softened ghee or butter. Microwave for one minute and thirty seconds (up to two minutes but do not over-cook). Remove from microwave and voila! You have an amazing tasting chocolate cardamom cake in five minutes or less!
Allow it to cool and frost if you like but it tastes great without the sugar! Add a scoop of ice cream on the side and you have the perfect quick and easy dessert to end any meal!
